Festival Charity – The Fishermen’s Mission
This year our nominated charity is The Fisherman’s Mission, whose patron is The Princess Royal. They are the UK’s only national charity working to support fishermen and their families.
Every day, fishermen head to sea to bring food to our tables. They face unpredictable weather, long weeks away from home, and conditions where safety cannot always be guaranteed even with the strictest precautions. Their work keeps coastal economies alive. However, it often comes at a personal cost. Physical strain, financial pressure, and isolation are common. For some, the sea’s dangers are all too real. Fishing is a way of life, and having to leave it behind can even be a challenge.
The Fishermen’s Mission exists to make sure no fisherman – active or former – or fishing family faces those challenges alone. We see a fishing industry where every person feels supported, valued, and safe.
Locally, The Fishermen’s Mission operates out of Troon Harbour where the local team offers a crucial safety net for the local fishing and prawning community.
Please pop by their stall at the festival and have a chat with them. You can support them by donating any unused beer tokens to the charity at the end of your visit to the festival. Full refunds will be given for beer tokens if preferred.
